About Incordia

Incordia is a melodic death-metal band founded 2012 in the city of Darmstadt in Hesse, Germany.
Their music is influenced by Norse mythology and takes their listeners on a journey throughout the vast, ice-swept lands of the north, where Vikings and mythical creatures dwell. Their musical catalogue ranges from melancholic death-metal ballads over epic hymns to inexorable neck-breakers, providing a wide range of music for anyone who likes their music hard and loud.

After singlehandedly releasing their debut-album The Darkness Surrounding in 2015, they stepped up their game and recorded the single Hymn ofthe Asagods (2016) and their second full-length album The Talon Elder in the legendary Kohlekeller Studios. After a longer period of creative work, they returned to this studio in early 2021 to record their third full-length album The Vastness of Njordr which was released at the end of 2021. Listeners can expect stories ice and snow, desolation, and the vast reaches of the Northlands on 10 brand-new tracks such as Lament of the Wind, Hybris, or the new hymn In Odins Wald.

From the first moment, Incordia was not content to be a studio-only band, which let them onto local and national stages to perform their music. Here, they were able to play alongside well-known metal-bands like Eisregen at the Steinbruch-Theater Darmstadt or Equilibrium at Schwimmbad-Club Heidelberg. During the festival season 2016, they also rocked the crowd while playing the indoor stage at the Out&Loud festival in Geiselwind.

After a mandatory break of playing live due to the pandemic, Incordia was back on stage in early 2022, promoting their new album The Vastness of Njordr.

After several changes in their lineup over the years, Incordia are mostly back to their original lineup: Guitarist and band-mastermind Lee has taken on the full role of vocalist. After several years of creative break, their old lead-guitarist Pascal is also back in the bandsince 2021. To provide the necessary low-end and to help the guitarists keep time, the band is completed by long-time members Josh (Drums) and Julian (Bass)

2021: The Vastness Of Njordr (LP)

The Vastness of Njordr by Incordia is a powerful and atmospheric journey through myth, mortality, and the frozen vastness of the North. The album weaves tales of divine downfall and human hubris, where gods and mortals alike face the inevitability of decay and rebirth. From the cataclysmic twilight of the Aesir in “With the First Winter Comes Silence” to the cold desolation of “Dark Is Our Fate” and the spectral afterlife of “Shade Empire”, the songs explore the beauty and tragedy of northern mythic lore.

Tracks like “Thonfort” and “Hybris” evoke rebellion and divine punishment, while “In Odins Wald” roots the saga in the primal power of earth and legend. “Close to the Sun” and “Lament of the Wind” reflect on human arrogance and forgotten glory, and “Amidst the Suffering” exposes the cycles of pain and creation that shape both men and gods. The title track, “The Vastness of Njordr”, closes the album with a haunting sense of solitude and transcendence — a final voyage into the eternal sea of sorrow and salvation.

Epic, melancholic, and steeped in Norse mysticism, The Vastness of Njordr stands as a testament to the cold beauty of fate — a musical odyssey through storm, spirit, and endless northern skies.

2017: The Talon-Elder (LP)

The Talon-Elder by Incordia is an epic concept album that intertwines Norse mythology, the fury of battle, and deep reflections on fate, loss, and rebirth. Across its songs, the record tells of warriors bound by ancient oaths, fighting and falling beneath the gaze of forgotten gods (“The Talon-Elder”, “Hymn of the Asagods”, “Corona Borealis”). Between the clash of steel and the call of the Valkyries, moments of solitude and despair emerge (“Abandoned”, “As the Leaves Fall”), echoing the grief of those left behind.

Mythic visions of cosmic decay and renewal unfold in “Mists of Relinquished” and “Ahnenfall”, painting the fall of worlds and the rise of new ones. In “Wanderer’s Poem”, the eternal spirit roams through earth, sky, and sea — the embodiment of timeless wisdom and divine creation — before “Into the Light” brings the journey to a solemn close, embracing peace after struggle.

Rich in atmosphere and storytelling, The Talon-Elder stands as a saga of war, sacrifice, and transcendence — a musical tribute to the eternal cycle of death and glory of the norse mythology.

2015: The Darkness Surrounding (LP)

The Darkness Surrounding, Incordia’s 2015 debut, lays the foundation for the band’s signature blend of myth-infused storytelling, emotional depth, and ferocity. The album charts a journey through war-torn realms, cursed destinies, and inner turmoil. Battles are fought beneath darkened skies, where warriors face their inheritance of bloodshed and seek glory beyond death (“Inheritance”, “The Darkness Surrounding”). Ancient evils awaken and twisted fates unfold, as cursed wanderers, doomed legions, and deceptive gods shape the world’s descent (“Of Woven Worlds”, “Belial”, “A Lizard’s Pennant”). Personal suffering becomes mythic, with characters trapped in cycles of grief, coercion, and despair — from the relentless pull of a blood-thirsting blade (“Heartseeker”) to the tragic burden of sorrow and madness (“Lass of Sorrow”). Songs like “When Snow Falls” and “The Dark Stream” invoke apocalyptic imagery and the collapse of all that once stood strong, while “Beyond Thy Distress” channels rebellion against betrayal and oppression.

Across its tracks, The Darkness Surrounding merges epic Nordic themes with raw emotional weight, presenting a world where destiny is brutal, hope is fragile, and struggle is eternal — a dark, atmospheric introduction to Incordia’s mythic universe.
